How to Get Your First 1000 Instagram Followers

Instagram is great for sharing photos of your lunch and dinner or maybe the occasional selfie every now and then. But Instagram is also a great source for generating traffic to your site. In this post, you’ll learn how to get your first 1000 Instagram followers. It’s not rocket science, but it does require that you do some research.

This can be done in any niche. The bigger the niche, the easier it will be.

Step 1 is to identify other successful Instagram accounts in your niche. By successful, I mean accounts with more than 50k followers. You also want to make sure the account is active and the followers engaged, meaning look at how often they post new photos and see how many likes the photos get. If an account has around 50k followers, each photo should receive at least a couple of thousand likes. This is a good, successful account.

Step 2 is to post 8-9 photos of similar content like the successful accounts you have now identified in your niche. What kind of photos are they posting? What are they writing in their caption?

Step 3. Start to follow the followers of those successful account. This may sound a bit weird but let’s face it, if you want to get noticed you need to make some noise in the beginning. You want as many people as possible to see your content and follow you back. Click on the last post of the successful account, then click on the likes number below the photo to see who liked it and start to follow those people as well. Why only the last photo? The “likers” of these photos are probably active users and have been logged in to their Instagram account within the time the photo was posted, since they liked the post.

Now Instagram only allows a certain amount of actions to be taken each hour. Once you’ve reached this limit you will not be able to follow more people. But don’t worry, this limit will reset after one hour.

Once you start getting people following you back, check to see who they are, what they like and what they post to get an idea of what your ideal follower looks like. This will take some time to get right, probably a week or so.

Step 4. Now we want to start to engage with already established accounts. Make yourself noticed by commenting with interesting comments and opinions that will get attention. Be a bit controversial if you want. The more noise the better. Also try to comment on recent posts at first. By that I mean posts no more than a few hours old with good engagement.

Doing these 4 steps a few times over time will get you to 1000 followers quickly. Since you’ve already established that your followers are interested in your niche and content, you should also see a good engagement rate on your posts.

I hope this gave you a few tips on how to get your first 1000 Instagram followers. This is how you start out creating a great Instagram account with engaged followers which you can later on turn into buying customers.
